A Light From Beyond?

A young woman sits quietly drinking her morning coffee, pondering what had happened to her the day before that literally still has her shaking - never before has she experienced something  so scary.

It was a normal work day as a woman was cleaning a house that was about 10,000 sf. That was located in Laconia, New Hampshire - in a very elite, expensive neighborhood. The house had 3 floors, 4 bathrooms, 14 rooms (not including the bathrooms or 3 other rooms that were in the basement used for storage). The house was huge. Anyway, she was in the family room in the basement vacuuming and about 1 1/2 hours into a 3 hour shift when all of a sudden she was startled when she heard a HUGE LOUD BANG! And almost immediately she could actually "feel" someone watching her. It’s so hard to explain, but she could actually feel it. She was all alone in this huge house and absolutely terrified. She had shut the vacuum off and just stood there shaking and her heart racing. She was terrified and nearly frozen with fear. A few minutes went by; still she just stood there waiting to see if she could hear anything else, while the whole time was entombed by this very creepy feeling. She decided that she needed to check it out and slowly walked over to the hallway and looked up through the railings on the stairway.

The way the stairs were set up, you could see all the way up to the 3rd floor from the basement.  She just stood there breathless - listening and looking. She was 100% sure someone was in the house watching her.  Slowly she walked up stairs - super terrified of the unknown that could be waiting for her.  She stood on the landing right before she got to the main floor and looked down the long hallway. Not seeing anyone, but still feeling a presence. She continued down the hall, looking in each of the rooms one at a time - and yet saw nothing.  She then proceeded to one of the bedrooms on that floor and when she walked in, there was a bed side light on. 

"That's strange" she thought to herself, “I had just left that room about 20 or 30 minutes earlier and the light was definitely NOT on.  Maybe I hit the switch on the wall accidentally." She tried it and it was not the switch for that light. Then she thought that maybe it was a touch lamp and that she had bumped it accidentally...NOPE! When she got over to the light it was a lamp with a switch on it just below the bulb that you actually had to TURN it to turn it on.

At this point the woman was completely freaked out!! All this time, she could still feel the presence as she continued to check the rest of the house and found no one.  She went back to her house work and finished vacuuming the house, rounded up her cleaning supplies and got the hell out of there as soon as she could. That feeling of "being watched" to this very day - has never left her the entire time she was there.

When she arrived home she immediately called the owner of the home. She knew it was not their primary residence. They lived out of State, but have the home as a vacation home. Trying to conceal the fear in her voice - she left her a message to please call her. The home owner was always good about calling her back. It been only a couple of hours later as the home owner could tell that something was wrong with her by the sound of her voice in her message. Hesitant, she let her trembling voice asked the question...  "Ummm...is your house haunted?"

 

The home owner took a moment filling the phone with silence, and then replied, “well, we've been wondering the same thing."

"WHAT?!"

"Sometimes our dog would stand at the end of the hallway and just start barking down the hall, but when we would check - nobody was there that we could see. The dog would act strange a lot and sometimes she would hear noises that the rest of the family couldn't.  Sometimes both my daughter and I would awaken suddenly in the middle of night with the sensation that someone was pulling at our feet. So my daughter and I decided that we needed to know exactly what was going on and so we consulted with a medium and was told that the woman who lived there previously had died and would come back and forth to the house to - play."

She stood and shivered with her phone pressed tightly to her ear as the home owner then remarked with one last comment when she said so casually that the woman’s spirit haunting the home wouldn't hurt her and there was nothing for her to worry about - she didn't care...she was done right then!
