Fact or Fiction "A Light from Beyond" Revealed

Wow - za - wow wow - The response was outrageous. It really is so remarkable as to how many people have so many points of view. I wanted to post this yesterday, but I wanted to be sure that I answered all the questions that were sent to me, in regards to the story " A Light from Beyond?" I posted on Fact or Fiction Friday. So, lets not put this off any longer.   Drum roll..............

The original story was submitted to me, from Carrie who lives in New Hampshire, and that she and I graduated from Laconia High School in 1986.

Below is her TRUE story. Yes, this story is True. Got ya! Strange how removing and changing a few words here and there, can change what a person believes or doesn't believe.

Hey Stacey-

So here is my TRUE life Ghost story:

July 2013 - I was cleaning a house that was about 10,000 sf. It is in Laconia in a very elite, expensive neighborhood. The house had 3 floors, 4 bathrooms, 14 rooms (not including the bathrooms or 3 other rooms that were in the basement used for storage). The house was huge. Anyway, I was in the family room in the basement vacuuming and about 1 1/2 hours into my 3 hour shift when all of a sudden I heard a HUGE LOUD BANG! And almost immediately I could actually "feel" someone watching me. It’s so hard to explain, but I could actually feel it. I was all alone in this huge house and absolutely terrified. I shut the vacuum off and just stood there shaking and my heart racing. I was terrified. I was almost frozen. A few minutes went by of me just standing there waiting to see if I could hear anything else the whole time having this very creepy feeling. I slowly walked over to the hallway and looked up through the railings on the stairway. The way the stairs were set up, you could see all the way up to the 3rd floor from the basement. (Kind of like how we use to be able to look down from an upper floor at the high school when on the stairs). I just stood there listening and looking. I was 100% sure someone was in the house watching me. I VERY slowly walked up stairs, super terrified. I stood on the landing right before I got to the main floor and looked down the long hallway. Not seeing anyone, but still feeling a presence. I went down the hall, looked in the rooms, saw nothing, I then proceeded to one of the bedrooms on that floor and when I walked in, there was a bed side light on. I thought that was strange because I had just left that room about 20 or 30 minutes earlier and the light was definitely NOT on. I thought maybe I hit the switch on the wall accidentally...I tried it and it was not the switch for that light. Then I thought that maybe it was a touch lamp and that I had bumped it accidentally...NOPE! When I got over to the light it was a lamp with a switch on it just below the bulb that you actually had to TURN it to turn it on. NOW I am completely freaked out!! All this time, I could still feel the presence. I continued to check the rest of the house and found no one. I finished vacuuming the house and got the hell out of there as soon as I could. That feeling of "being watched" never left me the entire time I was there. Just thinking about it right now, I am literally shaking. It was so scary.

I came home and called the owner of the home. It is not their primary residence. They live out of State, but have the home as a vacation home. I left her a message to please call me. She called me back a couple of hours later and she could tell that something was wrong with me. I asked her "Ummm...is your house haunted?" She said "Well, we've been wondering the same thing." I was like "WHAT?!" She said that her dog would sometimes stand at the end of the hallway and just start barking down the hall. She said that nobody was there that they could see. The dog would act strange a lot and sometimes she would hear noises that the rest of the family couldn't. She said sometimes both her and her daughter would awake suddenly in the middle of night with the sensation that someone was pulling at their feet. She consulted with a medium and was told that the woman who lived there previously had died and would come back and forth to the house to "play". She said the woman wouldn't hurt me and there was nothing for me to worry about. I didn't care...I was done right then!

I consulted with my friend Lesley who is a medium and asked her to do a reading on the house. In the meantime, I did some research on the house myself and the previous owner and had also gotten information about her from the present owner. Since the owners were never hardly there she would do the reading from the outside of the house. Lesley and I went down one night. She did not know which house it was, only the street. She did a reading, which was quite interesting. Lesley knew the woman's name, her husband’s name, what she looked like, told me particulars about her marriage problems, where the woman worked, what she did there, where she killed herself (It was not at the house), and how she died, which was by suicide. It was a very sad case. Lesley also told me that the woman was sorry that she scared me, but yet she found my reaction a bit amusing. (i.e.: looking around, walking slowly and cautiously, etc...) Lesley started imitating EXACTLY what I had done because the woman was showing her my reaction. Lesley also told me that this lady was not going to hurt me. But at that point I had already quit and I just knew that I could not go back Lesley felt that because the lady found it amusing, even though she was sorry, that she would probably play some games with me in the future. She also confirmed that the lady did not stay at the house all the time, but that she comes and goes. She wasn't sure "where" she went when she wasn't at the house, but that she was somewhere "out there."

It was all quite scary for me. I always thought it would be cool to have an encounter with a spirit, but after having one, I never want another one again! Lol

SO...THAT is my Ghost Story. What do you think?

"What's a Halloween without a Creepy House in the Neighborhood"

29 Day until Halloween

I love the idea of what lingers in the dark on a cool foggy night that is kissed by the light of a full moon that is filtered by the autumn clouds moving across the sky.  Like this picture below. It was taken by a friend at the Halloween Happening in Crownsville, Maryland last year.  Do you see the skull in the sky?

Below are some pictures I found as I surfed the internet. Two things that I love at Halloween, old looking houses and creepy looking trees. (We'll save the tree pictures for another blog day). I was immediately taken back to a time in my school days when I recalled kids telling each other about homes that were either haunted or someone had died in them, just to put a freight into them. For me this always happened just before Halloween and put my trick-or-treating fun to the extreme test when I had to walk by one of these houses that was the topic of scary conversations, and there was always one of these kinds of homes in my neighborhood,  that just having the lawn too high, or the paint was peeling, would be the next target for others to being with another ghostly story. Maybe the older kids did this, to keep the young ones from getting all the good candy or maybe it was just to scare them - because they could. Personally, I think it was both, but could be the reason that today I am a Halloween Junkie and love telling ghost stories.

I realized that back then - many of us that let these stories get to us, merely due to perception, if something looked old or abandoned, that would somehow evolve and allow our minds to take us to those dark scary places that we'd rather not go. I do believe in Ghost's, but not in every house etc, just because a place looks old. Now the pictures below are not places where I grew up, they just brought back that nostalgic feeling of my youthful years and the fun we had at Halloween. The last picture is a photograph I took of the old abandoned Crownsville Hospital in Maryland near where I live now, while on my way to the Halloween Happening just up the street. The old hospital is also where they filmed the movie: Crazy Eights. I dare you to watch it.

It's Almost Haunting time - R U READY - GET SET ...

32 Days until Halloween

Well here we are again folks - one day away to mark the 31 days of Halloween. This 2014 Halloween Blog is going to be AWESOME! I can't tell you how excited I am. I have got all kinds of spooky goodies for you. My ever favorite - Is the true or False Legends and crazy pumpkin carvings of 2014, as well as new fictional stories that will have you reaching for that flash light - just to cross your hallways to use the bathroom. It is that time of year for me, when I can reach into my mind and pull out the thoughts that scare me and what I think would scare people.  Sometimes I think it would be better to say that I am related to Steven King, so that people wouldn't look at me and say - "Dang Girl are you ok? Where does that Sh*t you think up come from?"
I have always loved Halloween since I was a little girl, especially the excitement of finding that perfect costume to going trick-or-treating in. I still remember many of my costumes over my school years - Witchy Poo, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Barbie, Farrah Fawcett, A French Maid, A Lumber Jack, Baby Jane, Dolly Parton and my list goes on and on. But I think I would have to say of all my costumes - three come to mind that I really have enjoyed wearing – Dressing up as a man and going to a military Halloween party at a night club – The men really believed I was a new arrival on Adak Island working in same department as my husband as an EO. (Wish I had a picture of that one – what a night to remember) the other two are My Ghost Costume that I created the illusion that I could fly and my Katarina Witch Doctor Costume, that I am finding really freaks people out when they see me. From behind I'm a long silky red headed beauty, but when I turn around – let the screams begin. (See pictures below).
I wish to thank those of you who sent in your stories for my blog this Halloween.  Many of which were perfect for my Legends category. Can’t wait to get this Halloween Party started – so until tomorrow – I’ll blog ya later.

GUESS WHAT???? TIME TO GET YOUR SCARE ON!

Hello, hello, hello. How are all of you this first day of Fall?  I have had one heck of a busy summer, but so thrilled to be back on line, and doing what I love to do best - write and created my large array of handcrafted unique gifts. But the biggest thrill of them all is that in just a few more days it will be time for my blogs - 2014 Thrill Fest - ghost stories - old and new. Legends - Fact or Fiction and new caving ideas for your Halloween pumpkins of all shapes.
As you can see this is when I let myself step back from an every day wife and mother, and transform in "Katarina" Yes, this is a costume that I designed last year after writing a story called - "Hex of the Voodoo Witch - The Grey Hair Curse" - is the first story in my newly released book titled: "Twisted - Creepy Tales From A Mother's Mind" now available on Amazon.com.

But enough about me - I am calling on as many people who would like to share their stories of what scares them. (I will not put your names in the stories that I create).  Think about it... is it a dark rain on a moonless cold blustery fall night? Could it be the sounds of foot steps after everyone is tucked in bed for the night?  I'd like you to tell me, what gives you the creeps, scares you, or sends a chill up your spine when that Halloween season comes round?

I am so excited to get things going for what I'd like to call my blog for the Month of October - "Thrill Fest 2014" - LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED. All you have to do is tell me what scares you - If you dare - and let my imagination and love for Halloween develop fictional story that will have you hiding under the covers till dawns early light. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Send your spooky stories, things that have happened to you, or someone you know to, - ukanducrafts@yahoo.com subject line: Katarina's Thrill Fest Blog 2014.
