"Grandpa Knew"

Well, I guess people are getting just as excited as I am about the upcoming - Spooktacular Fall Season. So rather than wait until the first of October, knowing that Monday the 23 of September marks the first day of fall, I'm getting this party started right now, but before I begin I want to send a shout out to Nadine, from Oregon, for sending me this story, that she found on the internet, and what happened when she told the story during a late evening with friends around the fire. To sum it up in a few short words - "I scared the crap out of everybody!"
So to all my current readers and to the new ones just jumping on to my Blog wagon - I hope you all will have the same experience when you tell this tale to your friends in the darkness of the night while gathered around your fire pit or campfire. Blog ya later!
Grab onto your seats and that good luck charm –
You’ll never know when you might need it.

"Buried Alive"

MY GREAT-GREAT grandmother, ill for quite some time, finally passed away after lying in a coma for several days. My great-great grandfather was devastated beyond belief, as she was his one true love and they had been married over 50 years. They were married so long it seemed as if they knew each other's innermost thoughts.
After the doctor pronounced her dead, my great-great grandfather insisted that she was not. They had to literally pry him away from his wife's body so they could ready her for burial.
Now, back in those days they had backyard burial plots and did not drain the body of its fluids. They simply prepared a proper coffin and committed the body (in its coffin) to its permanent resting place. Throughout this process, my great-great grandfather protested so fiercely that he had to be sedated and put to bed. His wife was buried and that was that.
That night he woke to a horrific vision of his wife hysterically trying to scratch her way out of the coffin. He phoned the doctor immediately and begged to have his wife's body exhumed. The doctor refused, but my great-great grandfather had this nightmare every night for a week, each time frantically begging to have his wife removed from the grave.
Finally the doctor gave in and, together with local authorities, exhumed the body. The coffin was pried open and to everyone's horror and amazement, my great-great grandmother's nails were bent back and there were bloody scratch-marks on the inside of the coffin.

"Humans Can Lick Too" - Spooky Stories

21 Days until Halloween

Greetings to everyone in Blogger land. I must say thank you to all the responders of yesterday’s blog. I was flattered by the two questions I got in an e-mail that I had just opened this morning.  My answers are (No) I am not related to Steven King, and (Yes) have I considered screen writing, that's if someone wants me.

I will say I had a lot of fun with yesterday’s story and for those who believed parts of it were true; it is a complete work of fiction. It is an original story that I wrote when I was hit with a big dose of inspiration that came to me after looking at a friend’s farm pictures, he had posted on Facebook, from out in Nebraska. The tractor inspiration came after talking with my husband about a tractor pull event that he assisted with last Saturday. We have a friend who purchased himself an old tractor - but for the life of me, I can't remember the make/model, all I know is that it is old with lots of old school character. Funny what inspires us in our daily lives.

Today's tale comes from a lady out west and is of no relation to my family.

She writes: I know this story has been heard throughout the years and has been told in many plots and styles. I still remember when a friend of mine told me the story. For the longest time I believed it to be true. I was pleased to learn it was just a legend, but it still sends shivers up my spine when I share it with my friends. Would you please add this to your list of stories on your countdown to Halloween? I look forward to reading your work each day. Keep up the great writing. Best Regards - W. Forrester

"Humans Can Lick Too"
A woman is home alone with only her dog for company. Listening to the radio she hears of a serial killer on the loose, so she locks all the doors and windows and goes to bed, taking her dog to her room with her and letting it sleep under her bed. She wakes in the night and can hear a dripping sound in her room. The bedside lamp won't work and she is too scared to get out of bed to turn on the main light. She hides under the covers but to reassure herself that the dog is still under the bed she puts her hand down and feels a lick on her hand. She lays awake for some time listening to the dripping sound and periodically puts her hand down to where she can hear heavy breathing and each time gentle licks on her fingers. Eventually she fell asleep, next morning when she wakes, on her wall written in blood says “HUMANS CAN LICK TOO". As she looks up she sees her dog slashed hanging on the wall.
