Well, here it is, another Sunday with a
Saturday blog that missed publication. Not because the Internet was down, not
because I didn't write it in time, and not because my kids didn't let me on the
computer. What I found out was a pure and simple discovery about myself and my family - Saturdays during
October are frightfully filled. My kids are on a bowling league on Saturday mornings, my younger son goes to work at a costume store, and needs a ride as he is not quite old enough for his license, and then it is costume alterations and corrections, make-up and preparation for the big event which actually stared this Friday night. It was the best opening night that we have ever had for our Halloween Happening. It was a
complete success in spite of an intermittent rain that was not supposed to come
our way. We had 150 patrons join us for the newest tour and scary designs -
"Adam's Nightmare" - I love all the changes, but the weekend is not over.
Now, let’s to go back to Friday's blog - I
loved how people interpreted what the story was -fact or fiction. Most of you were right on two levels, yes the story is true, and yes, I was the little girl in the story. So
after writing the story, I was consumed by the notion to find an old family
picture. It took my breath away when I happened to come upon a photo that I
didn't know existed. Below is a picture that someone in my family must have
taken of me sleeping, at the age that this happened, however it wasn't this
room where this photo was taken when the floater appeared. But it was this
bedroom set and a matching desk that I had for furniture at the time. The event
happened when my parents swapped rooms with me. Who knows, since the room was
my mother and fathers before mine, maybe the floater wanted them to see it, not
me. I just don't know.
The strangest thing about that event - Things
like this happen and continue to happen to me quite frequently. People laugh
and ask, "So you see dead people?" I don't look at it like that, but
they like to come visit me in my dreams at times, and why, I have no flippin' clue. I wrote about
a couple other spooky situations that have happened to me in the book I had
published in May of 2011 titled "Through the Barracks Window: A Time of
Waves.” Many don't know that my book is actually a true story that I was forced
to write in the third person as Uncle Sam did not want me speak up. I am Fallon
in the story. But enough about the book, this is no time for a sales pitches.
It's almost Halloween and I am getting bombarded with all kinds of great ideas
to write about for the next 8 days. I can't wait to put these legends and
stories out for all to read, but you must wait until tomorrow. For now, I must prepare for another night as
the Tour guide for our event. If you live in the area, please come out for a
great night of frightful family fun - I DARE YOU. *Wink* Join
me tomorrow for more pictures of Halloweens past and some more frightful
stories that will leave you keeping the lights on when you sleep...what will
your children think when you ask if you can have their nightlights? Have a
wonderful end to your weekend and as always - "I'll blog you later.
If you go to www.capitalgazette.com for the paper for yesterday, they did an interview with the creator of the Halloween Happening. The photo they used is my photo in my host tour guide ghost costume from 2009. Now I am Madame Nightmare.
