Honoring the Men and Women of our Armed Services

I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotions when I saw this video today and hope that you are filled with the same feelings -  pride, honor, and loyalty for our Men and Women of our Armed Services, both active duty and those who have served before them. Please pass this link on for all to experience this powerful message.

To Those Who Served and To Those Who Gave the Ultimate Sacrifice - We Salute You.

I had been looking for a poem, quote, something that would signify the true spirit and meaning of Memorial Day. This one really touched me and I wanted to share it with all of you. As we all know, just because you find it on the internet and it has an authors name to it, sometimes that is not always so. So either way, I provided the name of the author that was on this, if it just happens to be wrong, I do apologize in advance. I also want thank my friends on Facebook for putting up the picture that I have attached below.

To my Seabee Husband, brothers, sisters and all who served our country for its freedom! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Beholding Beyond WordsBeholding Beyond Words To Our Servicemen And Women
Stationed Around The World In Far Away Places
There¹s Not Much We Can Say Too Thank Them Enough
For What They Go Threw Each Day In The Rough

But: Give Them Our Thanks
Give Them Our Love
Give Them Our Regards
For a Safe Return

We Praise and Raise Our Hands To You
That Earned the Honor That We Now Bestow
We Salute You For A Job Bravely Done
And Applaud Your Courage In The Face Of The Unknown

Defending Freedom
Defending Liberty
Defending Peace
At Home And Abroad

For The Past, Present, And Future Generations
Duty Will Always Be An Honorable Citation
To Stand The Ground That Freedom Upholds
To Endure Engagements Where Ever They Unfold

Defending Freedom
Defending Liberty
Defending Peace
At Home And Abroad

For Those MIA¹S, POW¹S,
Fallen Soldiers, Who Gave All They Could
We Will Search For As Long As It Takes
You Are Not Forgotten And Will Always Be

In Our Hearts
In Our Prayers
In Our Minds
For All Time

These Immortalized Soldiers Whose Bravery Abounds
They Are Sisters, Brothers Heroes Profound
They Enlisted For The Duty At Hand
To Serve The Cause Of Country And Land

They Serve With Honor
They Serve With Valor
They Serve With A Pride
That Will Change Them Forever

To Our Forces Standing Tall And Proud They Be
Our Countries Behind Them In A Solemn Sea
So Let The Flags Of Freedom Fly
Unfurled In Their Majesty High

In The Sun
In The Rain
In The Wind
Across This Land

These Are The Things Our Country¹s Made of
These Are The Things We Cherish And Love
So Let The Flags Of Freedom Fly
Unfurled In Their Majesty High

In The Sun
In The Rain
In The Winds
For All Time

NMCB 5 ROLL CALL - DESERT SHIELD/STORM 90-91

Today starts the tedious task of finding members of the green machine from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 that had been part of Desert Shield/Desert Storm 90-91. My husband and I have created a Facebook Page entitled:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Looking-For-Nmcb-5-Desert-Shielddesert-Storm-90-91-Urgent,  which will also have the listing of men that were part of NMCB 5. If you have any information on the whereabouts of these men you can send an email to: nmcb-five90-91@hotmail.com Subject: GWV 90/91

If you know any of the men listed below please have them or their family member’s contacts us ASAP. These are the names and ranks at the time of this deployment in 90-91. Names that are underlined are people we have found.
Names were retrived from the NMCB 5 - Home of the Desert Seabees Operation Desert Shield/Storm Cruise Book. If I were to assume, I would think many names and ranks were typed incorrectly, but I've learned the hard way what assuming can do to a person. So forgive me if you find errors and please send us the corrections.

NAMES CAME OUT OF THE CRUISE BOOK
I have been informed that not all of your names appear,
please contact us so that we can update this information if you or someone
you knew is not listed.

New Hampshire Union Leader - Some worthy reading material by a retired Seabee with NH Connections. By Greg Andruskevich

Hi Stacey, Here's my column on the book, finally... Today's newspaper! Greg

Some worthy reading material by a retired Seabee with NH connections

Greg Andruskevich

“THROUGH THE Barracks Window, A Time of Waves,” by retired Navy Seabee Stacey L. Bolin, originally from Laconia, tells a story of fortitude and resourcefulness on the part of the author, and you have to admire her persistent courage in spite of all that was thrown at her, even before basic training started.

Bolin’s sheer determination in the face of overwhelming odds does the Granite Stater proud; she faced what was, at the time, a chauvinistic Navy, including one particularly difficult medical officer.

“Through the Barracks Window” is her 22-year labor of love. What happened to her in this story is all true; only the names have been changed to protect the innocent, and because the law says she has to protect the guilty, too.

Her military saga began in Concord on Jan. 15, 1991, and it thrust her into a world completely different than the one she had expected, or anyone could have expected.

In our correspondence, Bolin sent me the following: “I would be more than happy to send you a copy of my book, and it would be an honor to sign it for you. I have to say, even though I am Navy retired, I have a great fondness and appreciation for the Army. The Army saved my life twice — once that I speak about in my book, and the second was here recently.

“I am a cancer survivor and the hardest part was going through treatments while I was in service trying to stay active duty. I do have a few secondary things that get the better of me now and then, but for the most part, I have my full Seabee ‘Can-Do’ spirit.”

When she signed her note
she wrote, “Greg and family, always believe in your dreams and follow the guidance of your heart.” And after you read her military story, you will see she stayed true to that course throughout her military career, even in Adak, Alaska, where a lot of “misfortune” took place.

And yes, I did enjoy this book and am sure you will, too. Bolin now lives in Annapolis, Md., with her husband, Ron, and their boys, Ryan and Reese. She is a member of the Maryland Writers Association. Her book is available by emailing orders@trafford.com; first check out www.trafford.com. Most Trafford titles are available at major online book retailers.

I salute Bolin for having the fortitude to write this book and the courage to battle through all the adversity thrown at her. I’ll never pass a rest area again or see a red van without thinking of her, and you’ll find out why when you read her book.

In addition, friends and those interested in Bolin’s book can catch her being interviewed on the Annapolis TV station at http://www.youtube.com/user/CityofAnnapolis#p/search/0/RH6Rwes6aDU.
