"WANTED FOR FRAUD!!"
By: Stacey L. Bolin
A work of fiction base on true life events.
There was a strange feeling in
the air on that April morning as the graying clouds consumed the blue skies
above. The people in the town, were pale, tired, frustrated, and wore somber
faces for hours on end as they continued to try find the culprit that had been
displayed in numerous wanted posters that had been hung all over their town.
“Wanted
for Fraud”
Brown Eyes,
Overweight, and likes
to lay low so not to be seen.
The suspect was last seen wearing a brown coat.
They felt betrayed, cheated on, and lied too. They were so confused by what was once a positive outlook on
their daily lives began to take an evil and revengeful turn.
Just two months before their
little town was consumed by the depressing gloomy colors of blue, black and a
gray, the town’s people filled their souls and their homes with great feelings
of anticipation as a blanket of cold white snow lay on the ground and an Arctic
wind dance outside their window panes. What would this moment bring? They
wondered as they prepared themselves for the gathering. What would the outcome
be? Would things finally change for the better? They had waited for this moment
for the past three months, wanting an answer and trying to figure out what
would his answers be?
In their best warm weather
gear, the town’s people converged onto the local park grounds while massive
amounts of media personal jockeyed to get that perfect angle, often obstructing
the views of citizens to see that glorious moment when he would officially
arrive. For the people in the back of the crowd, their only way of learning
when that moment would arrive would be the ecstatic sounds of people cheering.
The clock ticked down, one minute, two minutes, three minutes, then suddenly a
voice in the crowd began to scream and cheer - "HE DIDN'T SEE HIS SHADOW!
‘Punxsutawney Phil' Predicts Early Spring! GOOD-BYE GLOOMY COLORS OF WINTER! WELCOME
PRETTY COLORS OF SPRING!”
Little did they know that on
April the 10th, the tulips and daffodils and all that spring had to offer would
be consumed by a snow white storm of storms as a blizzard dropping over a foot
of snow, entombed the town as if it were the dead of winter.
The town’s
people were outraged! They had had enough and it was time to seek their sweet
revenge - they wanted winter to release it grips and free the beauty and warmth
of spring that had arrived three days before its capture. In a blink of an eye the
posters had not only made it all over town – they had made their way all over
the state. The citizens were determined once and for all to set spring free and
bring happiness to the people once again and if they couldn’t convince Mother
Nature, there was only one thing left to do…………
